FanCon XR
Big Rock Creative partnered with content experience thought leader Partikle Digital and LA-based comic book shop Golden Apple Comics on the first fully virtual fan convention, FanConXR
FanConXR is “a celebration of the strong connection comics and pop culture fans feel toward the stories that move them, and the artists, writers and publishers who create and share those stories.”
Fans explored comics from publishers including Archie Comics, AfterShock Comics, BOOM Studios, Heavy Metal, Image Comics and Stranger Comics. The event will also include panels with talent from the comics industry moderated by Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Beat, Heidi MacDonald.

- Event Production - we have hosted several virtual events and are designing a first of its kind VR centered pop culture conference -FanConXR.
The Objective
To create the world's more popular virtual fan convention. Here, fans gather to share their fan lore, meet their favorite artists and creators, and even purchase comics and memorabilia.
Why We Are Proud
- Our first event was in partnership with Heavy Metal Comics during WonderCon 2021. We broadcast an exclusive panel discussion into VR. Fans from around the world gathered inside the virtual conference space as their avatars and were able to watch on a screen the panel happening live at WonderCon 2021. Avatars could submit questions, and to their utter surprise, the questions were answered by the panelists in real time. Then the panelists joined us in VR as avatars to answer questions and meet fans. The panel included: George Romero, Blake Northcott, and Brenden Columbus. It was moderated by Matt Medney, CEO of Heavy Metal Comics.
- Halloween 2021 - John Carpenter fan meetup and memorabilia signing. Combined with a live, in-person event at the store, fans gathered in VR and were able to watch John Carpenter as he met hundreds of fans, signed memorabilia, and answered fan questions. This virtual component was said by the VR participants to be one of the most intimate experiences they ever had at a fan event.
