Burning Man Project - Desert Arts Preview: 2022 & 2023

DAP 2

Every year, the Burning Man Project (BMP) hosts the Desert Arts Preview (DAP) in San Francisco, a highly anticipated event where talented artists from all over the world come together to showcase their incredible art pieces and models, to the community and benefactors. However, until recently, presenting in person has been the only option available to these skilled artisans. In a bid to address this challenge, BMP made an innovative move by enlisting the services of BRC to create the DAP Virtual Worlds in 2022.

This extraordinary feat saw the development of six spectacular worlds, featuring more than 50 breathtaking 3D models of art pieces that were being built for the Burning Man event in 2022. This groundbreaking approach presented a unique opportunity for artists from diverse backgrounds across the globe to take part in the event without the need for physical attendance, thereby drastically reducing the carbon footprint and financial burden of everyone traveling to San Francisco.

The success of the virtual Desert Arts Preview in 2022 has been nothing short of remarkable, prompting the Burning Man Project to commission BRC to recreate the magic once again in 2023. This decision has been met with tremendous enthusiasm and anticipation from artists and fans alike, as it promises to be another exceptional showcase of creativity and innovation from the Burning Man community, from the comfort of their own homes.

The Objective

The objective of the virtual Desert Arts Preview created by BRC in 2022 and commissioned again in 2023 by the Burning Man Project is to provide a platform for artists from all over the world to showcase their art pieces and models to the community and benefactors of the Burning Man event without the need for physical attendance. This approach seeks to reduce the carbon footprint and financial burden of attendees while also promoting diversity and inclusivity by allowing artists from different backgrounds and locations to participate. Overall, the objective is to foster creativity, innovation, and community engagement in the Burning Man culture while leveraging technology to create a more sustainable and accessible event.

Why We Are Proud

We are proud of our innovative and forward-thinking approach of using technology to create a more sustainable and accessible event. By hosting the Desert Arts Preview virtually, the event reaches a much broader audience while reducing the environmental impact and costs associated with physical attendance.

Another reason is the opportunity to showcase the incredible talent and creativity of Burning Man artists from all over the world, without the need for physical attendance. This approach promotes inclusivity, diversity, and collaboration, allowing artists from different backgrounds and locations to participate and share their unique perspectives and art pieces with the community.

By providing a platform for artists to present their work and engage with the community, the event fosters creativity, innovation, and community engagement while also promoting sustainability and accessibility. This has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on the Burning Man culture and community.
